The Share Experiment
Acción contra el Hambre
Action Against Hunger (Acción contra el Hambre) launches a campaign to raise funds and awareness about the problem of hunger, and more specifically of childhood acute malnutrition, a disease that annually kills 3.5 million children. Although today we have the knowledge to prevent, diagnose and also treat malnutrition, only 3% of malnourished children have access to treatment.
The idea is to create a visual metaphor on how the world works. We carried out an experiment in which several kids (among 4 and 6 years old) were recorded in pairs during their meal time. One of the children was given something to eat and the other wasn't.
How did they react? Did they share their food or did the other kid simply watch while the other enjoyed his meal?
To celebrate “World Food Day”, Action Against Hunger (Acción Contra el Hambre) launched this initiative to study children's behavior when faced with an unfair reality. In a world in which food is poorly distributed, sharing might be a great solution.
